Closer Therapies

More Efficient and Accessible Therapies

What's at Stake

As explained on the home page, we see many mental health issues as a consequence of the domination-driven and disconnected world in which humans and other living beings co-exist.

This state of things creates a wide range of psychological suffering, which in turn generates further mental health issues, creating vicious circles that can perpetuate themselves across individuals, families, generations and species.

The Current Challenges with Therapy

We believe there are several major challenges preventing people from accessing or benefiting from effective mental health therapy:

Low effectiveness

According to some sources, there are more than 400 different types of therapies. Many of them fail to identify and/or address the root causes of psychological suffering. In many cases, a significant part of the benefit may come primarily from general emotional support, reassurance, and the feeling of being heard. While this can create genuine short-term improvement, it may sometimes only be sufficient to maintain an appearance of effectiveness without producing deeper healing.

Psychological resistance to therapy

Resistance to therapy can itself have several causes:

  • Previous unsuccessful experiences: People may have tried one or several forms of therapy without meaningful improvement and become discouraged from seeking further help.
  • Cultural resistance and stigma: In many cultures, mental health issues are ignored, misunderstood, hidden or stigmatized.
  • Personal psychological resistance: Therapy often requires individuals to confront painful memories, unresolved trauma, and difficult aspects of themselves, which can naturally create fear and avoidance.

Cost and accessibility

Many people cannot afford therapy, especially long-term therapy, making meaningful psychological support inaccessible to large parts of the population.

Our mission

Our mission is to act on any of the levers that can improve the effectiveness of therapies, including facilitating access to therapies (e.g. by lowering costs), expanding the adoption of successful existing therapeutic methods, and developing new therapy models.

We are currently at a very early stage of development, so at this point this is primarily a project in development.
